New Release

A new release of WalkDB is now available, this includes two updates:
  1. The map on the homepage would previously rotate at random between various world cities. This now will always centre on your current location (falling back to a random city if this cannot be determined).
  2. A fix to the code for landmarks, previous multi-line descriptions would cause errors, this has been fixed.
WalkDB is available now.

Deleting

You have always been able to remove individual routes from WalkDB, for whatever reason - out-of-date, didn't like it anymore, etc.

Now you have the power to clear everything out of WalkDB, if you so wish (I hope you don't). Simply go to your page - i.e. click on your username at the top right of the window - and then click on "Account Settings". The delete button will remove everything from the system, but be careful, once clicked it cannot be undone.

Editing

It is now possible to edit a previously saved route. This is useful for a number of reasons:
  • Correcting a route.
  • Adding landmarks for interesting places along the way.
  • Adding the route distance (for routes saved prior to this being automatic behaviour).
To add route-distance to your route (that hasn't already got a distance), simply:
  1. Log in
  2. Click on your username in the top-right corner
  3. Find the route from the list of the left hand side
  4. Click 'edit'
  5. Click 'SAVE'
The route will now also contain distance.

See other routes near yours

New feature has been added to WalkDB. When on a page for a specific route, there is an option to see other routes in the same view. When selected, this shows markers for routes which work in the same way as the homepage.

For example, the route from Richmond to Hammersmith. Try clicking on the "Show other nearby routes on map" tickbox. Several other routes will be identified starting in Richmond.

Any comments, problems, etc., please leave a comment below.

New Feature

Routes added to WalkDB now automatically calculate route distance. For example:
